Sonakshi Sinha On Facing Body Shaming: ‘No Matter What Size You Are, People Will Always Discuss It’
Bollywood’s Dabangg girl Sonakshi Sinha has collaborated with Huma Qureshi for a film titled Double XL, which talks about body and weight-shaming with a dose of humour. In a recent interview with ETimes, the actress revealed what made her sign this project and she also spoke about her bond with Huma while they were working together on the film. Sonakshi admitted both she and Qureshi have faced body and weight-shaming for years during the initial years of their career. And, that it hasn’t stopped yet.

The Rowdy Rathore actress was quoted saying, “It hit home so hard when the script came to both of us. I would never have done that film with anyone else but Huma. It’s so important to both of us. Body and weight-shaming have happened to both of us for years in our lives. It happened from the beginning of our careers in this line, and it still happens. It hasn’t stopped. No matter what size you are, people are always discussing it, which I think is bordering on the unnecessary now. We talk endlessly about cutting out discrimination on the basis of sex, colour and race.” ALSO READ: Zaheer Iqbal REACTS To Dating Sonakshi Sinha; Reveals Salman Khan's Advice To Deal With Link-Up Rumours

Talking about working with Huma, Sonakshi went on to share that they both are really close to each other. She recalled an incident that made filmmaker Mudassar Aziz think they both are the perfect choice for the film. Sinha said when Mudassar saw her and Huma chilling together during the lockdown and gorging on their food, he thought about bringing out a story inspired by the experiences the women have had at the hands of trolls, who have often shamed them for their size.

‘Double XL’ also stars actor Zaheer Iqbal and is produced by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, Wakaoo Films & Mudassar Aziz in association with T-Series Films. The film will release in the summer of 2022.
